When you hear shuffleboard, what do you think? Florida, the elderly, cruise ships. Sure, maybe, but how about an indoor shuffleboard club and bar in Brooklyn? Well, you can find just that at The Royal Palms in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
This 10 court shuffleboard club is open to walk-ins, and they even host league nights on Mondays and Tuesdays. The club is open and spacious and almost mimics an outdoors shuffleboard court with booths set in the back covered by canopies. They also have a rotating group of some of NYC’s most popular food vendors like Luke’s Lobster and Mexicue. But, in the center-back of the room is where you’ll easily find the bar.
I ordered The Jim Allen (Herradura Silver, Creole Shrub, Fidencio Mezcal, mango nectar, lime juice). This mason jar served cocktail was so delicious. You get the nice smokiness of the mezcal, and then the sweetness of the mango comes right through.
See you on the courts.

Location: 514 Union Street, Brooklyn
The Long and Short: Would I go back? Yes. Anyone want to start a league?
Would I recommend it? For sure, it’s a really great place to hang out for a drink, learn to play shuffleboard (or amp up your game), and grab a bite.
