Searsucker

If you’re looking for a vibrant scene to grab some drinks or New American Cuisine, go to Searsucker in the Warehouse District of Downtown Austin.

The restaurant and bar itself is spacious, decorated with oversized lighting fixtures and lamps, giving it a really unique aesthetic. The bar has a generous amount of seating if you’re just looking to grab a hand crafted cocktail, which, I was.

I ordered the Jale Berry (strawberry jalapeño tequila, lime, agave). This drink was great. It had the perfect combination of spice and heat, and fruity sweetness. The two balance each other really nicely, neither one overpowering the other. Refreshing with a little kick.

Moonshine Grill

When I’m in Austin, TX, I like coming back to Moonshine Patio Bar and Grill in the Downtown area for their great service and satisfying food.

The restaurant has been around for just over ten years, serving up quality American fare in a wooden clad environment. There’s a special place in my heart for all things free, and Moonshine starts you off with a complimentary basket of seasoned popcorn. Popcorn! I love it so much.

I ordered The Bohemian (Portobello, Grilled Zucchini, Red Bell Pepper, Red Onion, Arugula, Goat Cheese and Eggplant Spread wrapped in a Herb Tortilla). You choose a side dish and I went with Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Rosemary Oil. The wrap was delicious and hearty. The portobello mushrooms are juicy, and complimented by the crunch of the greens, the caramelized veggies and the creaminess of the rich goat cheese. The sweet potatoes are amazing, they’re tender, well seasoned and naturally sweet.
