I’m off to Greenpoint, Brooklyn to hit Peter Pan Donuts as the next stop of my 7 Best Doughnuts In NYC Challenge from Gothamist. This husband and wife duo have been running the shop for decades, adding new donuts all the time, and keeping all of the originals.
With each donut only running you about a buck, you realize that you don’t have to spend a lot for a “fancy” donut to get a great one.
I went for their Red Velvet, which I heard was one to try. And, it was a great one. Slightly crisp on the outside from the sweet glaze, you ease right below that to a chocolate glaze which adds a richness to the red velvet flavor. The donut itself has a great cake texture and really brings it all together.
The Shorts:
Name: Peter Pan Donuts
Location: 727 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn
The Long and Short: Would I go back? Definitely! Lots of variety here as well, so, plenty more to try.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely. And, the shop is right near McCarren Park, so, grab a donut, or two, and take in some nature.
