Next stop on my 7 Best Doughnuts In NYC Challenge, from Gothamist’s list, is Doughnut Plant.

Founded almost 20 years ago, this place has created quite a lot of buzz over the years. And, rightfully so. There are two locations, the newest in Chelsea. The unique design and quirkiness of the Chelsea location basically begs you to stay and stuff your face with delicious doughnuts and stare at the wall full of doughnut pillows.

There are plenty of delicious sounding flavors to choose from, both cake and yeast doughnuts, and rotating flavors depending on the day of the week.

Now, I’ve been here plenty of times, so I wasn’t surprised to see Doughnut Plant on Gothamist’s list. According to their list, the Tres Leches  was the one to try. Which, was great, since that’s actually one of the flavors I haven’t had yet. And, it’s awesome. This is a cake doughnut, coated in a perfectly sweetened glaze. Then, delicately filled on the inside is the tres leches, which seeps into the cake, making it a sweet, creamy soaked cake.
