If you’re in the mood for fresh baked goods, made from local ingredients, with a Latin flare, head to Big Booty Bread Co. in Chelsea.
This former Wall Street trader comes from baking roots and decided to follow his passion and open up a bakery. Serving items from cupcakes and cookies, to empanadas, many of the items have a Latin influence to set them apart.
Now, I’ve had their cupcakes before and really enjoy those, so, I went for something different. First, I got their Booty Bun (which, is just fun to say anyway). They have a few varieties to choose from (filled with chocolate, guava, or strawberry/cream cheese), but I went for the dulce de leche. The bun is eggy in flavor and pillowy soft.
Inside you have the dulce de leche, sweet and creamy. My only wish is that there was more inside.
Then, because who doesn’t love a brownie, I got their Cheesecake Brownie. Rich and chocolatey, and almost fudge-like.
