If you’re looking for some fresh, quality food on-the-go, head over to Spreads in Midtown East.

This quick service shop focuses on fresh, scratch made products that are also affordable. They also believe in the mantra that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, serving just breakfast and lunch with a number of options.

Their menu highlights their sandwiches, but they offer salads, soups, veggie sides and baked goods as well, and everything is made on premises.

I ordered their Coconut Bacon Sandwich (applewood-smoked coconut “bacon”, avocado, tomato, house greens, house made vegan mayo, seven grain bread), which is actually vegan. I’m not vegan, but it sounded healthy and delicious…and it was. The lettuce is fresh, crisp, and the tomato juicy. Then, you have the little “bacon” bits which are similar to the texture of chips with a smoky, sweet, and coconutty flavor. The creaminess of the avocado and the sweet herbiness of the spread compliment the sandwich really nicely.
