What liquor screams “America” more than some American whiskey? So, over the 4th of July weekend, I had just that. One of the top places to go to enjoy some whiskey, is Char No. 4 in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.
Named after the charred new oak barrels, used for aging bourbon, Char No. 4 offers over 150 American whiskeys. 150! They also have a restaurant, focused on smoked meat and other American fare.
But, I was here for the whiskey. So, I ordered one of their bourbon cocktails, Noreaster (Ginger beer, lime and maple syrup). If you’re not a real bourbon person, or the idea of whiskey intimidates you, this is a great drink to choose. It’s smooth and has a nice sweetness to it. The spice of the ginger, sweetness of the maple syrup, and the citrus of the lime work really well together.
