Cafeteria

So, I’ve lived in NYC for 8 years now, and one of the most magical things about living in NYC, is the 24-hour dining experience. Yeah, that’s where my standards are at. When I moved here, I was quickly introduced to Cafeteria in Chelsea. I’ve been going for years and always have a great experience.

For the past 15 years, they’ve been serving American comfort food with a modern twist. And yes, of course, morning through night, through morning again. Unlike your typical 24-hour diner, this restaurant is anything but drab and boring.

I’ve had a number of things here before, but this time around I ordered their Veggie Burger (Spicy Cucumber Yogurt, Garden Slaw, Multigrain Brioche Bun, Hand Cut Fries). I’ve had some crappy veggie burgers (many of you probably think that veggie burgers are crappy enough on their own), but I really liked theirs. First off, you can taste the difference pieces and components that go into the burger as opposed to some mystery patty. It has a softer texture to it and really nice flavor. There’s some creaminess and crunch added on top from the slaw, and the multigrain bun is soft and pillowy. Can’t forget about the fries either, they’re deliciously seasoned with the perfect combo of crispness on the outside and soft potato center.

The Shorts:
Name: Cafeteria
Location: 119 Seventh Avenue, NYC
The Long and Short: Would I go back? Well, after 8 year, if I stopped now, that would be weird.
Would I recommend it? Yup. And the best part is, you can go…whenever you want.
