This past weekend, I was in Montreal. During my time there, I went to a few really great spots that I’ll share here. To start, I went to La Distillerie in the Latin Quarter. First off, you’ll be golden if you get there on the earlier side (they open at 4pm), because you’ll quickly see a line start to form outside. Not only because this bar is a staple in the area, and it’s very popular, but because they’re very strict on fire code and capacity caps, only letting in the max capacity.
Dimly lit, surrounded by warm wooden fixtures and a large chalkboard well, this bar is super inviting and cozy. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. They’re well known for serving a bulk of their cocktails in Mason Jars (extremely efficient for mixing, shaking and serving…and not to mention fun and cool). Even so, I went for a drink that sounded especially good to me, even though it wasn’t in a jar. I went for the Pistolero, lime, passionfruit puree, tequila blanco, Laphroaig Scotch, orange liqueur, agave nectar. It was incredible. Slightly sweet and with a kick of heat, it was perfectly mixed and served in a chilled glass.
Even though my drink didn’t come in a Mason Jar, all of their complimentary snacks do. Gold Fish. Awesome.
