Located in the basement of Chelsea Market, you’ll find The Tippler, a 100 year old historic space that is now available to the public in the form of a bar. They take their cocktails seriously and offer craft beers, wine and snacks.
The atmosphere is cozy and offers some couch seating in addition to their bar seats. Look up, and you’ll feel like you’re viewing a mini Michelangelo ceiling painting.
I ordered the Dizzy Oaxacan (Mezcal, grapefruit, lemon, Averna Amaro, cayenne, ginger beer and smoked salt). Amazing. There’s a subtle hint of the citrus, but you really get a great smoky, spicy, salty taste as well. Great combination.
The Shorts:
Name: The Tippler
Location: 425 W 15th Street, NYC
The Long and Short: Would I go back? Yes, it was cozy, yet spacious, so you don’t feel smothered, and the drink was delicious. Would I recommend it? Yes. Spend the afternoon in Chelsea Market and then go around the corner to hit the bar.
