So, I recently read a Thrillist article, “15 Things You Didn’t Know About Junior’s Cheesecake“, and thought, well, I know one thing…I haven’t had it yet! And after reading the article, I was pretty impressed with some of the facts. I even almost forgot about when Diddy had his reality show band walk to Brooklyn to get him a slice. So, I figured, it was probably due time to get a slice of my own. Luckily, I didn’t have to walk to Brooklyn to get it, I could just visit the shop they have at Grand Central. 

Event though they’re famous for their cheesecake, they also serve food in their restaurant and offer a variety of baked goods. But let’s be real, I’m here for the cheesecake. I also saw that Junior’s had a throw down with Eileen’s, which I’ve visited before, and…Junior’s won. Time to taste test for myself.

I ordered their Plain Cheesecake. Holy Cow, who’s milk makes the cream cheese that makes the cheesecake. This is certainly a legit piece of cheesecake. It’s a bit dense, but, it’s rich and creamy and velvety soft. It’s perfectly sweet with this great vanilla flavor that presents itself. I also really like the bottom, they use a spongy cake, contrary to many cheesecakes with a graham crust, because, as they put it, it’s a cake, not a pie.

The Long and Short: Would I go back? Uhh…yeah. Hell, I might even walk to the Brooklyn Store for it after all.
